Good morning,

“Would you like the good news or the bad news, Chancellor?” Well, the good news for John Healey is that the economy has grown a bit, and unexpectedly. The bad news is that growth was down to 0.1 per cent in August, down from 0.4 per cent in July.

Meanwhile, the excitement around the Airtel Money mega-IPO last week masked a bleaker trend for London’s capital markets. Listings have fallen to the lowest levels seen since 2023, with just one public offering in the third quarter this year.

So, here’s everything you need to know this morning. We’ll be back in your inbox at noon with Midday Markets.

One thought the alert was “some crappy marketing scheme to get me to check the app and to view their snowflake collection,” they wrote on X. The notification was in fact a direct threat to Asos’s management, threatening to leak information belonging to the company’s millions of customers.
