Good morning, and welcome to our freshly rebranded newsletter.
Ten months after Nick Ephgrave (shockingly) announced he was stepping down as director of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the anti-fraud department has posted the job listing for the top role.
Ephgrave officially stepped away from the leadership position in March, halfway through his five-year term, in order to retire after 38 years in public office.
It was a surprising announcement at the time, given how proactive he was when he first came into office. Especially with his former police officer background for an office that lawyers traditionally held.
But now the SFO is hunting for its next director. For £199,000 (plus a £57,650 pension contribution), you can lead a vital but struggling prosecutor's office.
Elsewhere, it seems the British version of ‘Suits’ is coming to the BBC next year.
The ‘high-stakes’ legal drama will be known as ‘Counsels’. But I wonder if we'll see this aesthetic appear on wannabe lawyers’ TikTok accounts, as Suits has.
