National Budget. Local answers. Plan your next move.
The Autumn Budget had no headline wealth tax changes. But for business owners and wealthy individuals, the detail matters more than ever.
From April 2027, the Business Asset Disposal Relief lifetime limit halves to £500,000, which could add £30,000 to the tax on a future exit. A new Founders’ Relief offers a 10% CGT rate on gains of up to £10 million for qualifying founders, and EMI2 doubles share option limits to £120,000, giving growing businesses more ways to reward key people.
Individuals are hit too. Income tax on savings and property income rises by four percentage points from 2027/28. Personal allowances stay frozen until 2031 and HMRC is stepping up its scrutiny of anyone with income over £200,000 or assets over £2 million.
Our Autumn Budget Expert Insights report explains what’s changed and the actions to take, with views from our tax and sector specialists.
