Good morning,

Natwest has posted a pre-tax profit of £2.2bn, broadly in line with what it was expecting. The results are set against the looming prospect of a bank tax, which the government has promised will only last 15 months. But, would the government ever actually reverse that surcharge?

Meanwhile, Binance has been hit by one of the most severe hacks in history, affecting several billion dollars of digital assets and forcing it to freeze customer accounts.

Plus: Exclusive economic modelling for City AM assesses whether Manchester City is too big to fail.

So, here’s everything you need to know this morning. We’ll be back in your inbox at noon with Midday Markets.
